Donald Trump & The Alt-Right

In 2016, Donald Trump's unexpected victory ushered in an era of harsh immigration policies and associations with alt-right ideologies. His administration, while consistently criticized for stoking xenophobic, Islamophobic, and sexist sentiments, enacted policies such as attempting to rescind DACA and instituting travel bans on Muslim-majority countries. In particular, his handling of racially charged incidents, including an ambiguous response to white nationalist violence in Charlottesville and describing African nations as "shithole countries," was widely condemned. His associations with controversial figures such as Steve Bannon further underscored public concerns, establishing a presidency often perceived as sympathetic to white nationalist agendas. His tenure was also marked by unprecedented resistance, including the largest single-day nationwide protest the day after his inauguration-the 2017 Women's March.
